Oslo Open Art Festival 26-27 April

Oslo Open 2014On Saturday and Sunday 26 and 27 April, Oslo Open 2014 is arranged. Between 12.00 pm and 6.00 pm you can participate and visit many different venues for free.

410 artists, open studios, concerts, performances, seminars, guided tours, crafts, BOO! Children’s Oslo Open – free art workshops for children, art film program at the Cinematheque, presentation of two new artist run venues and international visits.

That is what waits you at this year’s Oslo Open festival. It is an artist-run festival established in 2000 by a number of major art institutions to give artists an alternative venue to show their work and an opportunity to be discovered outside the established institutions. Oslo Open is a non-curated event and what meets you in the studios is luckily as different, exciting and diverse as the artists themselves.

This is the festival where you can see tomorrow’s art – before it ends up in a gallery or a museum. This is the festival where you can talk to the artist and find out the ideas behind the art.

The aim is to establish new points of contact between art and audience. The studio is the artists’ daily work space. Oslo Open gives a glimpse behind the scenes and into the process behind the finished work.
