Norwegians love knitting and good entertainment. That makes great TV. Tonight it is time for NRK’s new minute-by-minute show where a group of eight people (hopefully) will set a new world record in knitting a sweater in the shortest time possible.
NRK has had great success with their slow TV programs like National Firewood Night and Hurtigruten, and has received international attention for this new and innovative concept.
Live from studio, a group of eight will attempt to set a world record in the discipline “From Sheep To Sweater” – processing wool into yarn and knitting it as fast as they can. It will be a real challenge, and no one has ever been close to beating the amazing Australian record in 4 hours 51 minutes and 14 seconds!
The rest of the National Knitting Night shall consist of “geeky” information on knitting techniques and traditions, as well as displaying great knitted haute couture.

The public is encouraged to submit photos of their knitting projects through social media (#nrkstrikk).
